How To Get Rid Of Blemishes And Pimples

Modern beauty culture has taught us that the first essential in complexion loveliness is scrupulous cleanliness. At least twice a day the skin should be freed from dust, grease, powder and rouge, and given an invigorating, cleansing treatment to open the pores, freshen the outer cuticle and stimulate the natural secretions to a healthy activity.

Prevention of Skin Blemishes And Pimples

skin oils

Rosewater, Olive oil, Almond oil and Coconut oil.

Grease is the best means of cleansing the skin and working waste matter and dirt cut of the delicate tissues. Heavy skin foods are not the best for this, but the following oily cream has specially penetrative qualities:

  • 2 ounce of White wax
  • 1-8 ounce of Coconut oil
  • 2 ounces of Almond oil
  • 1-4 ounce of Olive oil
  • 1 ounce of Rosewater
  • 10 drops of Bergamot Oil
  • A pinch of borax

Heat the olive oil and almond oil together and then the white wax and coconut oil together. Warm the rose-water and borax, beat the wax into the oils, then add the rosewater, and lastly the oil of Bergamot. Stir gently until all the ingredients are well mixed and cold.

This cleansing cream, you will find, liquefies quickly on the skin. It is softening, whitening and nourishing to the tissues. For a thorough cleansing of the skin one application of the cream, of course, is not enough.

The first one simply removes surface powder and dust, but at the second penetrates the pores, makes them throw off all the tiny impurities, and stimulates them to a healthier action.

The Best Time For Your Beauty-Cleansing Treatment

Before going to bed is the best time for your beauty-cleansing treatment. For perfect results it should be done every night regularly, no matter how tired or lazy you may feel. It will take only a few minutes when you get into the way of it, and have everything ready to your hand.

First smear a liberal amount of the cream over your face, and after a few minutes, wipe it off with a soft, clean cloth. The second application should be rubbed in well with the fingertips, working upwards with a circular movement and gently kneading and massaging the flesh.

Now take a piece of complexion tissue and wipe off all the cream. You will be surprised at the amount of dust and grime that comes off on the tissue after this second application. This alone will prove the great value of cream as a cleanser.

The cold cream treatment should be followed by the use of a spirit lotion to remove all remaining vestige of grease and waste matter. There is nothing better for this than simple rectified spirit in the proportion of 80 percent spirit and 20 percent distilled water.

Damp a pad of cotton wool in this and sponge the face and neck thoroughly. This lotion has tonic properties, and being mildly astringent, it tightens the skin and freshens and cools it.

Your face by now will feel soft and the skin flexible and free from any trace of day-time dust or impurities.

Last thing of all, pat in a little good skin food. Choose a well-known one and made by a reliable maker. A good skin food is well worth the price, and is not an expensive toilet aid, as a jar lasts a long time. A skin food should always be patted in and not rubbed, and the patting should be very gentle round the eyes.

Face Steaming Can Be Very Beneficial For Your Skin

facial steaming

Steaming your face is a relaxing way to treat yourself at the end of a long day.

Another important item in skin cleanliness is an occasional steaming. This should be done after the cleansing with the oil cream and before using the spirit lotion. Fill a wide-mouthed jug with boiling water, and add to this a teaspoonful of tincture of benzoin, which is an excellent mild antiseptic.

Hold the face over the rising steam for about ten minutes, keeping the eyes closed and allowing the steam to penetrate all the tiny crevices of the face and neck.

After this, bathe the face with plenty of very cold water, and dry gently with a soft Turkish towel. This beauty regime, if followed carefully, will keep the complexion clear and soft.
